Radial drilling machine is a kind of drilling machine suitable for working on medium to large and heavy workpieces. There is a vertical column that is mounted on a large base of the machine and is supported by radial arm. This arm can be lowered or raised for adjusting workpieces of varied heights. The arm swings horizontally to different positions around the column over the work. The drill head mechanism for spindle rotation and drill feed is mounted on the radial arm can be horizontally moved to and fro from the column. It then can be clamped at any needed position. These movements in the machine allow location of the drill at any desired position. In case when two or more holes are to be drilled in a workpiece, arm's and drill head's position can be altered to move the drill spindle from one hole to another without the need of altering the work setting. Workpiece can be clamped directly on the base when it is too big. The main parts of radial drilling machine are the base, column, radial arm, drill head, spindle drive and feed mechanism.
